About Me.
Dr. Alex Warner received her doctorate from the History Department at Rutgers University on May 15th, 2011. Her recently completed dissertation examines the intersections of the politics of feminism and sexual liberation through investigating the organization of lesbian sado-masochists in the 1970s and 80s. Alex has received a research grants from the Schlesinger Library at Harvard and the Mellon Foundation and was the recipient of the Lesbian Caucus Scholarship Award from the National Women's Studies Association. She has presented her work at the American Historical Association, the Society of American Archivists and has an upcoming panel at the Berkshire Conference of Women's Historians.
Dr. Warner is honored to curate the LA&M's first Women's Leather History Project exhibit, which opens Memorial Day weekend in Chicago, and has presented her work at Leather community events such as International Ms Leather, New York LeatherFest and Philadelphia Leather Pride Night. Alex has taught courses in the History and Women's and Gender Studies Departments at Rutgers, Seton Hall, and San Francisco State University as well as for the Writing Program and the Institute for Research on Women at Rutgers.
